Oakdale Recovery Center is a 55-bed treatment facility for adults with substance use disorders. Oakdale Recovery Center is dedicated to assisting persons with substance use and co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders to begin the process of recovery and to regain control over their lives.
Oakdale’s Detoxification and Residential programs provide intensive, structured, 24-hour medically monitored services for adults struggling with a wide range of drug, alcohol and mental health concerns. Oakdale Recovery Center provides a disease-specific, person-centered and multidisciplinary approach to care. We offer comprehensive treatment services and offer each resident follow along supports that begin with the withdrawal/detoxification process and extend through aftercare following residential treatment.
MEDICAL DIRECTOR JOB RESPONSIBLITIES:
Authorization for Admission
Review medical and psychiatric presentation of patients at admission for LOC appropriateness
Assign treatment protocol
Complete admission documentation authorizing LOC placement
Physical Examinations
Supervise Nurse Practitioner and/or Physician’s Assistant completion of physical exam within 48 hours of patient admission
Ensure each admitted patient receives medical care consistent with presenting symptoms and/or conditions
Provide and document direct medical care services, per the clinic's policies and procedures, including, but not limited to Supervision of:
o patient physical examination
o determination of need and completion of orders for the procurement of lab specimens
o prescribing, dispensing and administering medication consistent with the clinic's philosophy
Medication Review
Perform medication reviews consistent with the intensity and frequency of patient reported/observed symptoms
Prescribe medication in keeping with accepted current prescribing standards
Complete Medication Consent for each prescribed medication
Complete additional Medication Consent each time a new medication is added
Supervision
Provide direct supervision of the Nurse Practitioner and Physician Assistant non-psychiatric medical interventions
Conduct case conferences with staff therapists, case managers and advocates at a frequency assigned by the clinic Program Manager
Provide clinical direction/recommendations to staff, addressing all aspects of treatment, including but not limited to, diagnostics, treatment goals, objectives and interventions, discharge criteria, psychiatric evaluation recommendation, level of care change
Complete review of clinical documents per the request of the clinic Program Manager
Administrative
Make recommendations for protocol changes
Advise clinic pharmacist of stock medication requests/changes
The Medical Director shall be available to work part time 20 - 24 hours a week. The work schedule is weekdays and is flexible. The positions works at our Canton location.
MEDICAL DIRECTOR REQUIREMENTS:
Doctor of medicine or a doctor of osteopathy
Licensed to practice in Michigan
Completed a residency in the field of internal medicine or emergency medicine
Board certified or Board eligible
Registered with the Drug Enforcement Administration
Two plus years of experience in the treatment of substance abuse problem
Two plus years of experience in treating mental illness and/or co-occurring substance abuse and mental health disorders
