The Department of Population and Public Health Sciences (PPHS) within the Boonshoft School of Medicine (BSOM) at Wright State University is seeking applicants for the faculty position of Director of the Center for Interventions, Treatment, and Addictions Research (CITAR) at the rank of Associate or Full Professor.

PPHS has a 30+ year history of funding to carry out community-based behavioral health research and program evaluation in Ohio, led by CITAR and the Substance Abuse Resources and Disability Issues (SARDI) Program. This hire is part of an initiative to continue that tradition. The department and school have numerous strong external partnerships within the community, including with Public Health Dayton Montgomery County, the Dayton VA Medical Center, Wright Patterson Air Force Base, Dayton Children’s Hospital, The Ohio Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services (OMHAS), Greater Dayton Premier Management (Dayton Public Housing), and local law enforcement and correctional facilities.

The candidate will maintain an active, extramurally funded, research program. In addition, the candidate will seek opportunities to involve others in their research, including faculty and students in PPHS and other BSOM departments. The candidate will also have the opportunity to collaborate with BSOM's new Division of Addiction Medicine and teach within the Public Health Program.

The Public Health Program within PPHS offers a unique academic learning environment. The program is housed within a community-based medical school that values partnerships and collaborative programming with public health stakeholders. At the undergraduate level, students can earn a BS or BA degree in Public Health. At the graduate level, students can earn a Master of Public Health (MPH) degree with concentrations in population
health and health promotion and education, as well as a graduate certificate in epidemiology, emergency
preparedness, public health leadership, or aerospace medicine.

Minimum Qualifications:
• PhD, DrPH, ScD, MD, DO, or equivalent degree
• Expertise and research experience in substance use, social and behavioral health, mental health, intravenous
drug use comorbidities, health disparity/equity research, or related topics.
• Record of past or current extramural research funding.
• Evidence of productivity resulting from previous research commensurate with rank (e.g., peer-reviewed
publications, abstracts, posters, presentations, reports, and/or other products).
• To qualify for the rank of Associate Professor, the candidate must meet the criteria outlined in the department’s

Preferred Qualifications:
• Record of current extramural research funding from NIH, NSF, or other state or national funding agency.
• Experience as a grant reviewer for NIH, NSF, or other state or national funding agency.
• Participation in student and faculty mentorship.
• Graduate teaching experience.
• Record of successful collaboration with community partners.
• Record of leadership in professional and community organizations.

Essential Functions and Percent of Time:
• Conduct research and submit grant proposals – 70%
• Teach undergraduate and/or graduate courses and mentor students – 20%
• Participate in university, community, and professional service – 10%
