We are currently looking for a Physician Assistant for our campus at The Farley Center.
Responsible for performing certain medical functions, under the direction and supervision of the Medical Director. Also, responsible for providing patient education and discharge planning groups. Medical: Take medical histories; perform physical examinations; order diagnostic studies (Laboratory , x-ray, EKG, etc.); gather historical, physical, and diagnostic data and formulate working assessment under physician's supervision; formulate management plans under physician's supervision; implement management plans under physician's supervision; make hospital rounds noting progress and writing orders for countersignature of supervising physician; provide immediate care in emergency/life threatening situations. Physician assistant's duties will not be routinely performed away from supervising physician. If temporarily separated from assistant telephone communication with physician will be available at all times.
Group Facilitation: May facilitate Discharge Planning/Relapse Prevention Planning group or medical education groups on an "as needed" basis.
Treatment Planning Update: Serves as a member of the interdisciplinary treatment team providing medical and physical health assessment information to ensure appropriate care planning relevant to specific patient needs.
Patient Education: Counseling team facilities Patient Educations.
Dictations and Documentation: Responsible for dictating/transcribing Admission History and Physical Examination, Medical Progress Notes and discharge summaries in accordance with Williamsburg Place established policies and procedures. Also responsible for documenting group participation in patient education sessions.
EDUCATION: Master’s Degree in health science (major Physician Assistant) or related degree, to obtain VA Physicians Assistant License.
REQUIRED LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS: Must be licensed by the Commonwealth of Virginia's State Board of Medicine and Certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA), CPR
