Position Description
THE ROLE
Under the leadership of DUHS Executives and in collaboration with the Durham County Board of Trustees, the President of Duke Regional Hospital is responsible for the clinical, cultural, operational, and financial performance of the hospital. This individual must promote and champion superior operating performance while fostering and implementing a culture of excellence in team-based delivery of clinical services.
The President will support an inspiring vision for the hospital, engaging others in setting strategy and goals for long-term success. This individual is responsible for fostering healthy relationships in the community and Durham County, while collaborating internally with leaders across the organization to elevate the people, operational and financial performance of the hospital.
This leadership opportunity requires both strong strategic and operational skills as well as the ability to lead through influence in a large and complex academic health system. Relocation is required for this role.
PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Business and Operational Excellence: Drives results through strong fiscal, operational, and strategic management of DRH. Ensures operations meet highest standards of quality and care and that DRH is operated in a manner that is ethical, efficient, and financially sound. Aligns the strategy of the hospital with Duke Health strategies and promotes strategies for financially sustainability and success.
Clinical Excellence: Leads the hospital's efforts to design and deliver remarkable, high value, personalized, and precise care, clinical innovation, and a culture of kindness. Promotes and supports efforts to eliminate harm to patients, their loved ones and each other. Holds the team and themselves accountable for quality and equitable clinical outcomes.
Board and Community Relationships: Cultivates strong, credible, authentic and trust-based relationships with Durham County Hospital Corporation Board of Trustees, Lincoln Community Health Center, Durham County and State of North Carolina representatives, while acting as an effective representative, advocate and spokesperson. Is actively involved in Durham and represents Duke Health in the community.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AT THIS LEVEL
Education
Masters degree in health care or hospital administration.
Experience
Nine years of related experience in health care administration.
Degrees, Licensure, and/or Certification
Clinical licensure preferred
