PURPOSE OF POSITION:Perform direct patient care of pediatric patients within the scope of the psychology license, education and experience. Consistently contributes toward the advancement of clinical patient care and improved outcomes for patients and families seen in the Emergency Department and Bridge Clinic, as well as inpatient mental health patients on medical beds. Direct patient care will occur in the Emergency Department, Bridge Clinics, and with inpatient mental health patients on medical beds. Proficiency in all department/division activities and initiatives. Will provide ongoing training and supervision of PIRC staff in evidence based treatment interventions. May elect to participate in the training and education of residents, fellows and other learners.
Responsibilities
???Patient Care
Perform direct patient care of pediatric patients within the scope of the psychology license, education and experience. Consistently contributes toward the advancement of clinical patient care and improved outcomes for patients and families seen in the Emergency Department and Bridge Clinic, as well as inpatient mental health patients on medical beds. Interview and assess patients and families to determine appropriate level of care and safety planning/interventions. Determine nature and extent of impairment, prescribe and administer appropriate behavioral or mental health interventions or assessments. Perform procedures, collect data, analyze data and make decisions regarding patient care, including initial screening, assessment, diagnosis, prognosis, care, reassessment and discontinuation of care. May formulate, maintain, support, monitor and modify a patient-specific plan for care, treatment and rehabilitation based on the patient's assessment for a short term basis until ongoing treatment can be established.

Participates in and/or leads ongoing educational activities for continued enhancement of clinical expertise, including with PIRC and Bridge clinic staff.
???Effective Communication
Provide for the exchange of appropriate patient care and clinical information when patients are admitted, referred, transferred or discharged. Provide data which will contribute to the assessment of a patient's needs, the organization's capability to provide care or treatment and the appropriate level of care.
???Training and Education
Participates in the training and education of medical students, residents, fellows, faculty, community providers and/or other CCHMC staff, when possible.
???Policy Compliance
Maintains good standing in the department by compliance to licensure and credentialing criteria. Comply with policies and procedures protecting patient rights for informed consent and the handling of confidential information as defined by Cincinnati Children's mission and applicable laws and regulations. Follow Cincinnati Children's established code of ethical behavior in decisions and actions regarding marketing, admission, transfer, discharge and billing. Review timeliness, accuracy, availability and security of information.

QualificationsEDUCATION/EXPERIENCE Required:
Doctor of Philosophy OR Doctor of Clinical Psychology OR equivalent from an APA Accredited program
Unrestricted licensed Psychologist
2 years related experience
Approval from CCHMC Medical Staff Services Division
Completion of all required pre-employment activities (screening, background check, badging, and orientation)
Prior clinical practice experience may be required based on the specific needs of the hiring department.
