Staff psychologists at this level assess symptoms of and diagnose mental disorders, conduct psychological, neuropsychological and capacity assessments among patients; treat a wide range of mental disorders through a variety of modalities in primarily outpatient medical settings; provide adjunctive interventions for treatment of medical disorders, serve as consultants to assigned settings; and may be engaged in quality improvement projects and/or research. Clinical Responsibilities Serve on the Interdisciplinary Pain Rehab Program (IPRP) Program, activities may include leading or assisting with; Establishing the program's policies and written procedures Resource utilization and management Performance improvements activities Program development and modification Strategic planning Stakeholder relationship management Promoting the program Provide a weekly, ongoing pain management coping skills groups as part of the IPRP Manage all consults to IPRP (contact and schedule referrals) Complete psychological evaluations on all individuals considered for the program Oversee follow-up assessments at post-treatment, and 3, 6- and 12-month intervals Coordinate the lecture series that is part of the IPRP - we have added art and music therapy to the education selection Coordinate Interdisciplinary Team Meetings Manage psychological testing data base and maintain the quarterly Dashboard Completes evaluations for multiple transplant teams to include; Review of remote data Interview of the Veteran and their support person/team Communicates with the clinical staff from the Veterans referring VA Attends interdisciplinary team meetings as needed Provides psychosocial feedback on Veteran's to surgical staff and care coordinators Completes pre-surgical evaluations for plastic surgery and pre-spinal cord implant evaluations May assist with the Managing Obesity and Overweight in Veterans (MOVE) program with pre-bariatric surgery psychological evaluations and regular consults with the Bariatric Team staff. May also contribute to assessment and treatment services, as needed, within the MOVE program. Facilitates patient and family education appropriate to presenting issues. Supports and contributes to existing Behavioral Health programs and clinical initiatives as indicated. Provides consultation services to support decision-making, building on medical team interventions and improving Veteran-staff working relationships. Provides interventions and specialty health psychology assessment/intervention, with a focus on allowing Veterans to maintain consistent care to the extent that this is clinically appropriate. Academic/ Teaching/ Training Assists the assigned Program Manager/Psychology Supervisor in the design, development and implementation of Behavioral Medicine policies and procedures, and coordinates these services with the assigned team or treatment providers. Adheres to operational policies and procedures for the treatment team in accordance with VAPHS policies. Assists the PCMHI Program Manager in the execution of ongoing program evaluation and data-driven quality improvement projects to monitor the effectiveness of the clinical program. Complies with national and local performance measures, including timely health care screening and completion of clinical reminders for all Veterans. Complies with all CPRS documentation procedures, including timeliness standards for documentation and proper Veteran check out procedures (e.g. entering diagnostic and procedure codes). Attends and participates in administrative and informational meetings held by the Behavioral Health Service Line Director and facility Director. Attends monthly Psychology Service Clinical Training Committee meetings and intern supervisory staff meetings as required. May be assigned to supervision of psychology predoctoral interns and psychology postdoctoral fellows. Involved in Psychology Training Program and Training Committee, including facilitating or presenting to interns in venues such as case conferences and training seminars. Participates and complies with Psychology peer review procedures, including serving on the Peer Review Subcommittee Review Board as needed or required. Other Significant Responsibilities Assists the Program Manager/Psychology Supervisor in the design, development, and implementation of clinical programs for a team of treatment providers. Adheres to operational policies and procedures for the treatment team, established by the affiliated managers of each service line. Assist the Program Manager/Psychology Supervisor in the execution of ongoing program evaluation and data-driven quality improvement projects to monitor the effectiveness of the clinical program. Facilitates liaisons with other health care programs in order to effectively coordinate services. Complies with national and local performance measures, including timely health care screening and completion of clinical reminders for all patient and adherence to behavioral health specific competencies. Complies with all CPRS documentation procedures, including timeliness standards for documentation and proper patient check out procedures (e.g., entering diagnostic and procedure codes).
