The Medical and Chirurgical Faculty of Maryland, t/a MedChi, The Maryland State Medical Society is a non profit 501 (c) (6) association representing Maryland physicians. Created in 1799 by a special act of the Maryland legislature, MedChi is one of the oldest state medical associations in the country. Over the years, MedChi has become the leading voice for Maryland physicians, working to protect and improve the practice of medicine. MedChi has a subsidiary foundation and insurance agency. The Center for a Healthy Maryland is a 501 (c) (3) charitable organization and the MedChi Insurance Agency is a full-service insurance broker. The mission of MedChi, the Maryland State Medical Society, is to serve as Maryland's foremost advocate and resource for physicians, their patients and the public health. The vision for MedChi is to work to promote medical science and knowledge, enhance the physician patient relationship, achieve the highest standards for medical education and medical ethics, promote physician collegiality, and secure universal access to health care. MedChi has about 50 employees. Office hours are M-F, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. with an hour paid lunch.
